Indy 500 2026: UK TV Channel, Start Time, Watch Live

The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, the crown jewel of the IndyCar season, takes place on Sunday, May 24, 2026. This year's race has been moved to a different channel for UK viewers, as Sky Sports F1 will be broadcasting the Canadian Grand Prix later that day.

Race Start Time and UK TV Channel

The green flag is scheduled to wave at 5:30pm BST. UK fans can watch the entire main event live on Sky Sports Mix, with pre-race coverage beginning at 3:50pm. The switch from Sky Sports F1 is due to the F1 channel's commitment to the Canadian Grand Prix from Montreal.

How to Stream the Indy 500

Sky subscribers can stream the race via the Sky Go app on mobile devices or through the Sky Sports website on laptops and desktop browsers. Non-Sky subscribers can access the race through the NOW streaming service, with daily passes starting from £14.99 and monthly passes available.

British Drivers in the Field

Three British drivers are competing in this year's Indy 500. Louis Foster, driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, starts from 21st position after a 12th-place finish last year. Katherine Legge, the only woman in the race, pilots for HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing and lines up 26th. Jack Harvey, representing Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, originally qualified 29th but was dropped to the back of the 33-car field due to a post-qualifying technical infringement.

Main Contenders

Defending Indy 500 winner and reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou is the clear favourite from pole position. He faces strong competition from Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas, and Christian Lundgaard, all of whom have shown impressive pace this season. Team Penske's Josef Newgarden, a two-time Indy 500 winner, is also a serious threat, eager to climb the championship standings.

Double-Header for Motorsport Fans

The Indy 500 is part of a thrilling double-header on Sunday. The race is expected to finish just in time for viewers to switch over to the Canadian Grand Prix, which starts at 9pm UK time.
