The body of a teenage boy has been found in a lake after he went missing while swimming at a nature reserve. Declan Sawyer, 15, was reported to have got into difficulty after entering the water at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency Response and Search Operation
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.30pm and launched a large-scale search operation. Police officers, supported by an underwater search team and specialist divers, worked to locate the teenager after concerns were raised for his safety. After an extensive search of the lake, officers sadly recovered Declan's body.
Police Statement and Community Impact
Lincolnshire Police have asked the public not to speculate about the incident or share unverified information online. A force spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his family and we send our condolences at this incredibly difficult time. This is such a sad incident that will no doubt also affect many of Declan’s friends and the local community as well.”
The spokesperson added: “As we are starting half-term week, we ask our community to make sure that anyone affected is looked after and that people are encouraged to seek help and support where they need it. We respectfully ask that people do not speculate or share information that has not come from an official source as inaccurate information can be very upsetting to family and friends.”
