Kyle Sandilands' Graceland-Style Estate Fails to Sell at Auction
Kyle Sandilands' Graceland Estate Fails to Sell at Auction

Kyle Sandilands' extravagant 'Graceland'-inspired estate has failed to sell at auction, leaving the embattled former radio personality still managing four mortgages. The sprawling Glenorie weekender, known as Kingsview Estate, was passed in during a tightly controlled midweek auction on Wednesday, with only a few attendees present at the invitation-only event.

Auction Details and Restrictions

Potential buyers were reportedly required to sign non-disclosure agreements before entering the auction, and media were barred from attending altogether. There was no sign of Sandilands himself, nor the black 2004 Rolls-Royce Phantom that featured prominently in the property's flashy marketing campaign. After the failed auction, notably no 'sold' sticker appeared on the roadside billboard.

Property Specifications and Price History

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom Georgian-style mansion initially hit the market in February with hopes of fetching between $5.7 million and $5.9 million. However, expectations were later slashed to a $4.9 million price guide before that figure quietly disappeared from the listing altogether the morning after the unsuccessful auction. The luxury property has now been on the market for over 90 days and has accumulated more than 24,000 page views on realestate.com.au.

Sandilands purchased the sprawling 9,469 square metre estate for $3 million in 2022 before transforming it into an extravagant estate complete with a 'sweeping parliamentary-style circular driveway', 'cascading chandeliers', and a grand staircase. The listing even boasted a 'great room rumoured to host social balls'. The property was famously compared by Sandilands to Elvis Presley's iconic Graceland mansion during an on-air chat with Jackie 'O' Henderson last year. 'That Graceland looks exactly like the house I own in Glenorie,' Sandilands said at the time.

Legal and Financial Pressures

The sale campaign launched around the same time tensions between Sandilands and his former co-star Jackie 'O' Henderson erupted publicly on-air. The former KIIS FM breakfast duo have now been off-air for months, with the network currently counter-suing the pair over claims they breached their reported $200 million, 10-year contracts. The matter is scheduled to head to a two-week Federal Court trial beginning on October 12.

Sandilands previously admitted in March he was feeling financial pressure amid the ongoing drama. 'I've got a family, mortgages to pay, like everyone else,' he said. The radio star is understood to still hold mortgages across four properties, including homes in Vaucluse, Copacabana, the Southern Highlands, and Glenorie.

Background and Family Context

The Glenorie estate was originally purchased just weeks before Sandilands' wife, Tegan Kynaston, gave birth to the couple's son Otto in August 2022. However, Kynaston reportedly never warmed to the remote location, which sits more than an hour from the family's Vaucluse base. The failed auction adds to the financial challenges facing Sandilands as he navigates legal battles and property holdings.
