Hurzeler Vows to Fight On After Brighton's Palace Defeat

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has defiantly vowed to fight on through the most challenging phase of his managerial career, despite facing intense criticism from supporters during a painful 1-0 Premier League home defeat to bitter rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Fan Fury Erupts at Amex Stadium

The under-fire Seagulls head coach was subjected to loud jeers and chants of "you don't know what you're doing" and "you're getting sacked in the morning" as his team slipped to a demoralising loss at the Amex Stadium. The discontent grew particularly audible in the 71st minute when Hurzeler made a triple substitution, replacing Maxim De Cuyper, Carlos Baleba, and Harry Howell with Diego Gomez, Yankuba Minteh, and Danny Welbeck.

Palace's Derby Hero Strikes Again

Ismaila Sarr once again proved to be Crystal Palace's derby hero, netting a 61st-minute winner to secure all three points for the Eagles. This decisive goal echoed his impactful performance from last season, where he scored a double in a 3-1 victory on the south coast. The result propelled Palace above Brighton into 13th place in the Premier League table, marking their first win in 13 games across all competitions since December 11.

Hurzeler's Resilient Response

Addressing the media after the match, the 32-year-old German manager acknowledged the difficult atmosphere but emphasised his unwavering commitment. "Now it's not the moment to talk about my human feelings," said the former St Pauli boss. "Everyone can imagine how you would feel if 25,000 demand things and sing about you. It's not an easy situation but there are only two options: to give up or to keep working harder, and that's always the option I choose so far in my life."

He added, "That's why I am sitting here because I never give up. That's what I will keep pushing to do. I think it's the hardest moment of my managerial career but it's also the moment where I try to get the most out of it, I learn the most and I will grow the most. I will face this adversity and I will get through it."

Brighton's Concerning Form

The defeat extends Brighton's worrying run of form, with the team now having won just one of their last 12 top-flight fixtures. A victory on Sunday would have lifted the Seagulls into the top half of the Premier League table, but instead, the loss has intensified scrutiny on Hurzeler's position.

As jeers crescendoed at the final whistle, with some supporters openly calling for his dismissal, Hurzeler remained steadfast. "I always promise I give my heart, I give my soul for this club, and I will keep doing this," he stated. "It's not an easy situation to take. But I will absorb the criticism. It's fine if they find the person in me to blame – because in the end I'm responsible – as long as they support the team."
