Man City Agree Personal Terms With Utd Target Anderson

Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, delivering a significant setback to Manchester United's transfer plans. The 23-year-old England international is currently with the national team at the World Cup in the United States, where they face Ghana on Tuesday evening.

Personal Terms Agreed

Transfer journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Anderson has already agreed personal terms with City, with a contract until 2031. Schira stated: "Man City want to sign Elliot Anderson and are set to submit a new bid (around €135-140M) to Nottingham Forest to try to close the deal. Already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2031 with the midfielder, who pushing to join #MCFC as soon as possible."

United's Pursuit Thwarted

Manchester United had been heavily linked with Anderson as they seek to reinforce their midfield following Casemiro's departure this summer. However, City have emerged as frontrunners for a deal that would shatter the British transfer record. According to reports, Forest have rejected two bids, including one worth over £120 million with £106 million upfront. City are reportedly hopeful that a bid of £130 million could convince Forest to sell.

Praise from Peers

England defender Harry Maguire spoke highly of Anderson: "I’ve heard there are many clubs abroad after him as well. He’s got absolutely everything. He reminds me of Declan Rice in some aspects in terms of his profile." Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira also praised Anderson after his performance against Croatia, telling ITV: "Anderson had everything that I like about the holding midfielder because he is really aggressive, and he’s a ball winner. He dictated the game, but even in possession, he’s not hiding."

What's Next

City are expected to submit a formal bid in the region of €135-140 million to secure Anderson's signature. The midfielder is reportedly pushing for a move to the Etihad as soon as possible. United, meanwhile, will need to look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield options.
