Restaurant Worker's Petty Revenge on Rude Family Leaves Them with Huge Bill
Petty Revenge on Rude Family Results in Huge Restaurant Bill

A restaurant worker shared how they got petty revenge on a rude family who never tipped, and people applauded them for it. One person said: "A breath of fresh air and a great petty revenge."

Here in the UK, leaving a tip is generally considered a gesture of gratitude rather than an obligation. However, in some countries, it is very much part of the culture to leave a little extra alongside the bill.

Now, one restaurant worker has lifted the lid on a rude family who repeatedly dined at their establishment without ever leaving a tip, despite living in the US, where tipping is far more common. The worker grew increasingly fed up with their discourteous behaviour, particularly from the father, who they said would constantly "bark" orders from across the room.

Eventually, they decided to get their own back in the pettiest way imaginable, and the family has since stopped visiting the local Greek restaurant altogether, reports the Mirror.

The worker posted on Reddit: "Back in 2011 or so, I was working at a local restaurant in my hometown. It was the only Greek restaurant in town and it was a small but popular place. We had a lot of repeat customers and often were quite busy even on normal weeknights. It's worth noting this is not an affluent town. One such regular customer was the 'Thompson' family.

"I have no idea what their names are. Mum, Dad, three kids, probably under 10 years old. Mum and the kids were always fine but man, the dad in this family was SO RUDE from day one.

"They came in 1-2x per week and every time this guy used to bark at me and the other servers from across the room about everything, leave huge messes, but worst of all, these kids slurped down 3-5 sodas each during their visits."

The worker revealed that the worst part was the children would finish their drinks and "yell" across the room demanding refills. To make matters worse, the family never once left a tip. Eventually, the owners began serving breakfast at weekends, and one morning the family turned up during the busy rush.

The worker recalled: "As they sat down, the intrusive thoughts won. Before they could order their sodas, I said 'hey gang, who wants orange juice?' The orange juices were $3 each and didn't have free refills, as stated on the menu.

"Everyone got orange juice. Per usual, every few minutes he'd shout 'MORE JUICE, MORE SYRUP, MORE NAPKINS!'"

By the time the meal was over, the worker glanced at the bill and noticed the family had consumed roughly 13 juices between them, amounting to more than $39 (£29) for drinks alone. Taking inflation into account, however, the juice came to $57 (£42).

The worker placed the bill on the table and stepped away, adding: "I peeked around the corner, and saw him looking at the bill, then the menu (about the juice) then back at the bill. Eventually they paid the bill and left – no tip (obviously). Never saw them again after that. Hope they are doing okay."

Since posting the story on Reddit, the response has been overwhelming, with users finding it hilarious. One commented: "A breath of fresh air and a great petty revenge."

Another remarked: "So you 'fired' a customer. Good."

While a third chimed in: "Glorious. Losing money on that table was worth never seeing them again."
