Paris Saint-Germain have initiated discussions with West Ham United to sign midfielder Mateus Fernandes, a primary transfer target for Manchester United, according to French media reports.
Fernandes Set for Summer Exit
Following an impressive season with the Hammers, the 21-year-old is expected to be sold this summer after the club's relegation from the Premier League. United have already made an approach, with West Ham demanding an £80 million fee for the Portuguese talent. Fernandes has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, with manager Jose Mourinho viewing him as a potential midfield addition.
PSG's Double Deal Approach
According to FootMercato, PSG have now made their move, opening talks with West Ham over a double deal that also includes Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville. The report claims West Ham have demanded a €130m (£112m) transfer fee from the Champions League holders for both players. PSG have yet to submit a formal offer, but the report describes their interest as 'concrete and very real'.
United's Transfer Strategy
Fernandes was signed by West Ham from Southampton for £38m plus £4m in add-ons last year. United are now focusing on a deal for Fernandes after cooling their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Manchester City have seen their second offer for Anderson, worth £120m with add-ons, rejected by Forest, and United are refusing to enter a bidding war with their rivals.
