Unlucky Brit loses £10.6m Lottery jackpot after missing deadline

A National Lottery player in the London Borough of Bexley has missed out on a £10.6 million jackpot after failing to claim the prize within the 180-day deadline. The winning ticket, worth £10,633,323, was purchased for the draw on 4 October 2025, but no valid claim was made by the midnight deadline on 2 April 2026.

Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, confirmed that despite extensive efforts to find the winner, including widespread media coverage, the ticket-holder never came forward. The prize money, plus any interest earned, will now be transferred to the National Lottery's Good Causes fund, which raises around £33 million each week for community projects.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, said: “Despite an extensive search for the mystery Bexley millionaire, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward to claim their Lotto prize and has now unfortunately missed out on this life-changing sum of money. However, the money will now benefit Good Causes and add to the £33M raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects, several of which can be found in the Bexley area.”

The unclaimed prize is one of several major National Lottery wins still awaiting claimants. Currently, there are five prizes worth over £3.2 million that have yet to be claimed. Players are urged to check their tickets regularly to avoid missing out.

This news follows a recent £181 million EuroMillions jackpot win by a UK ticket-holder in the draw on 10 March 2026, which was successfully claimed. That win, the third largest in UK National Lottery history, was described by Carter as an “incredible win” that would change the winner's life and benefit their community.
