Airbnb host claims £16,900 damage after council booked flat for homeless guest with 6 dogs
Airbnb host claims £16,900 damage after council booking

An Airbnb host has alleged that her flat was left with approximately £16,900 of damage in just five days after a booking she claims was made by a local council for a homeless guest accompanied by six dogs. The host, who goes by Aurielle Property on TikTok, posted a video showing extensive destruction and mess throughout the property.

Host's Account of the Incident

In the viral TikTok video, Aurielle Property films herself walking through the flat, pointing out damage including stained carpets and stairs that were newly fitted. She says: “Everything was brand new two weeks ago. Look at this. It’s shocking.” The stairs, which were originally “cream” and “brand new,” are now stained and grey. She also claims that the guest used the floor as a toilet and that her cleaner refused to take the job after seeing the state of the property.

Aurielle says the booking initially appeared to be from “just a name of one man” and indicated that the guest would bring six pets. However, she became suspicious after receiving a noise complaint from a neighbour. The stay was repeatedly extended, and she later received a call from a local housing group, revealing that the council had made the booking.

Alleged Theft and Damage

The host also alleges that the guest stole cleaning equipment, including a Henry Hoover and a mop and bucket. She films items she claims were dumped outside. In the bathroom, she shows a broken toilet, exclaiming: “Oh, my God, they broke the f------ toilet! Look at the toilet. It’s in the f------ wall.”

Aurielle expressed frustration about the situation, questioning: “Am I in the wrong to think that I should be asked if I want to take on a f------ homeless person?” She added, “You should give your house to someone homeless.” In the caption of her TikTok video, she wrote: “My Airbnb has been completely destroyed. £16,900 of damage in 5 days. Every single thing has been urinated on or worse….. !!!!!!! Oh and the tax payer has to pay for it all….”

Response and Context

The Daily Star has contacted Airbnb for comment. The location of the flat has not been specified. The incident has sparked debate online about the responsibilities of councils and hosts in such arrangements.
