An Aldi insider has disclosed a hidden code on product labels that signals if an item is about to be discontinued. The code, a handwritten letter 'D' inside a circle, indicates the product has been deleted from the system and will be removed once current stock sells out.
The revelation came after a Reddit user posted an image of a price tag for Langham’s Doggy Ice Cream, priced at £2.99, which featured the mark. Another user explained the meaning, prompting an Aldi employee to confirm: 'The D in the circle means it's been deleted from the system and will be discontinued after this stock sells out.'
The employee added that the dog ice cream is a good seller, but Aldi sometimes delists products quickly. This practice is not unique to Aldi; other retailers use similar codes. For instance, a former Primark worker revealed that the announcement of 'Mr Brown' signals security is needed, while 'code two' alerts cleaners to a spill of bodily fluid.
Shoppers are advised to look for the 'D' mark if they wish to stock up on favourite items before they vanish from shelves.
