McDonald’s is launching its largest burger yet in the United States, the Big Arch, which will be available from March 3 as a limited-time offering. The burger features two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and a tangy sauce on a sesame and poppy seed bun.
Described by the company as “the most McDonald’s, McDonald’s burger,” the Big Arch was previously tested in Canada and several European countries. It has already become a permanent menu item in the UK and Ireland.
Jill McDonald, the chain’s global chief restaurant experience officer, said during a recent earnings call that the burger has shown strong traction in pilot markets. “Customers are responding to this more satisfying burger that meets demand for something heartier while still feeling distinctly McDonald’s,” she noted.
The price of the Big Arch in the US has not been announced, but a meal with fries and a drink costs about C$12.59 (approximately US$9) in Canada, making it pricier than most menu items. The 1,020-calorie burger’s availability period in the US remains unknown.
The Big Arch is the latest in a series of menu changes this year, including a new hot honey dipping sauce, the return of the Shamrock Shake, and a Valentine’s Day McNugget caviar kit. McDonald’s also revived its Changeables Happy Meal toys in January.
Looking ahead, CEO Chris Kempczinski revealed that the chain is testing protein-packed items to appeal to customers using GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy.
