Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United remains uncertain as he prepares for the World Cup, following a season-long loan at Barcelona. The 28-year-old forward has been in talks with Barcelona's new signing and England teammate Anthony Gordon, discussing life at the Catalan club.
Rashford's Conversations with Gordon
Gordon, who recently joined Barcelona, revealed that Rashford has been offering advice on settling in. "He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca," Gordon said. Rashford also provided tips on where to live and was described as 'very caring'. Despite both players favouring the left flank, Rashford's potential transfer does not seem jeopardised by Gordon's arrival.
Barcelona's Option and Negotiations
Barcelona hold a £26m option to sign Rashford permanently, which expires on June 15. However, the La Liga champions are seeking a reduced fee or another loan deal. Manchester United have rejected both alternatives, but with the deadline approaching, they may be forced to reconsider their stance.
United are aware that the World Cup could boost Rashford's value, especially after an encouraging campaign where he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions. Bayern Munich and Arsenal have expressed interest, with Bayern reportedly ready to pay £34.5m.
Rashford's Wage Consent
Rashford has already agreed to halve his £325,000-a-week wages to stay with Barcelona, as his salary does not fit United's structure under Ineos. The club's executives must decide whether to ease their position or risk losing him for less.
