TK Maxx has issued a recall for several children's swim vests due to a high risk of drowning. The products, which include various patterns such as whales, dinosaurs, sharks, and unicorns, have been identified as failing to meet safety standards.
The recall, also announced by Gov.uk, states that the swim vests are classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) but were not supplied with the required compliance documentation or markings. This means they have not been adequately assessed to ensure they perform as intended, posing a serious safety hazard.
Customers who have purchased any of the affected items are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund. The product codes for the recalled vests range from 819852 to 819914, with specific numbers listed on the government website.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) regularly recalls products in the UK due to safety concerns. In this case, the swim vests do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment.
