Rangers are the frontrunners to land Tottenham winger Mikey Moore on loan for a second season, according to Ibrox legend Kenny Miller. The 18-year-old impressed during his spell at Rangers last season under former manager Danny Rohl, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
Miller Backs Moore Return
Miller, who had three spells at Rangers as a player and is now interim boss at Maccabi Tel Aviv, believes a return to Glasgow makes sense for all parties. “I would be surprised if Rangers are not already all over Moore if there's going to be another loan deal for him,” Miller told BetGoodwin. “I would be very surprised if Ibrox wasn't his destination given he spoke so fondly about his time there, how much he enjoyed it and how it's been a really good spell for his development.”
Tottenham's Decision
Reports from London indicate Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has decided to send Moore out on loan for a second consecutive season, despite his strong performances under Rohl. Spurs successfully avoided relegation, securing their Premier League status, and have informed suitors they will not sell the England youth international. However, they want him to continue his development with regular playing time.
Moore's Impact at Rangers
Moore took time to settle at Ibrox but eventually became a key player on the wing. “He took that spot out wide and made it his own,” Miller said. “He started to show a level of consistency which was pretty impressive. He played with that kind of youthful exuberance where you just take the ball and attack defences. As the time went on, he became one of the first names on the team sheet in that front line.”
Rangers' New Boss
Rohl has since left Rangers, replaced by Derek McInnes, who is expected to be keen on securing Moore's services. Miller believes the winger's familiarity with the club and fanbase will be crucial. “He knows the club, he knows the fans. I'm sure Rangers are planning for a big summer of recruitment and they'll be looking to put better players in that starting lineup. For me, it makes sense for Mikey to end up back at Ibrox,” Miller added.
