A travel enthusiast has endured some of the UK's worst-rated hotels to see if they are as dreadful as reviews suggest. Zac Jones, a content creator from Liverpool, documented his stay at Salford's Weaste Hotel, which he described as one of the worst-reviewed hotels he had ever seen.
Jones paid £47 for a night at the hotel and posted a series of videos on his account @zacjonesliverpool. He noted that the hotel looked 'alright from the outside' but claimed the corridors were filled with overflowing bin bags and an Asda-branded basket packed with rubbish.
Upon entering his room, Jones found it 'really nice' and spacious, but noticed a fly, an empty shampoo bottle on the window sill, brown stains, and what viewers suggested might be cannabis. The sofa was 'beautiful' but stained, and the carpet had stains, including what appeared to be chewing gum.
The bathroom had a dirty toilet, a cracked shower floor, and a small mirror. Jones admitted he was 'reluctant to stand on' the shower floor. The bed was clean on top, but the mattress had fabric pieces. He summarised the hotel as 'ok' and 'rough around the edges' with potential.
The videos attracted comments from viewers, with one saying they had stayed there and it was 'so bad from inside', while another joked about a nearby kebab shop being 'stunning'. Jones's reviews aim to help cautious travellers decide whether budget hotels are worth the risk.
