The incident was first reported shortly before 5pm. Network Rail confirmed that lines are blocked at Stockport due to the emergency response. A spokesperson said: "Due to emergency services responding to an incident, lines are blocked at Stockport. There will be delays and cancellations while we work on reopening the line."
Services Affected
Avanti West Coast services are significantly impacted. A spokesperson stated: "Due to the emergency services attending an incident at Stockport, all lines are blocked. Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or diverted via Styal. Macclesfield and Stockport will not be served."
