The teenage sister of former Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan died from multi-organ failure caused by a high-level MDMA overdose, a coroner's court has heard.
Inquest Reveals Provisional Cause of Death
An inquest opening at Manchester Coroner's Court on Monday was told that Darci Rose Gibson, aged 19, passed away in hospital on 20 October 2025. Acting senior coroner Zak Golombeck stated the provisional cause of death was 'multi-organ failure' and 'MDMA overdose'.
Toxicology tests on Darci's blood and urine confirmed the presence of 'high levels' of the drug. The hearing was told that Darci had been at the Warehouse Project nightclub in Manchester when she suffered a cardiac arrest on 18 October.
Events Leading to the Tragedy
Darci was rushed to the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) but, despite treatment, her condition deteriorated. Mr Golombeck read from a police statement confirming she 'developed multi-organ failure' and died two days after being admitted.
The coroner noted that police had confirmed no suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement in her death. Greater Manchester Police had been called by hospital staff on 19 October regarding a woman who had fallen seriously ill after allegedly taking drugs.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
Following her death, Holly Hagan released an emotional tribute on Instagram, thanking the paramedics and staff at the MRI 'for giving my sister the absolute best chance'.
She described her sister's final moments, writing: 'It is with immeasurable grief and sadness that our baby girl, my baby sister Darci Rose passed away peacefully holding my hand surrounded by family and her best friends. She was never in any pain.'
Holly added that the family were 'traumatised in every sense of the word' by the loss.
The inquest has been adjourned to a later date to allow for further evidence, including a file from Greater Manchester Police. No date has yet been set for the full hearing.
