A three-year-old boy has died following a suspected dog attack in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The incident occurred at a property in Milnrow on Sunday lunchtime. The child was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Detective Superintendent Jamie Daniels of GMP's Public Protection and Serious Crime Division described the event as a 'tragic, devastating incident' and assured the community that a thorough investigation is underway.
Police are looking into previous incidents involving dogs at the address. The investigation is being treated as a criminal matter, and a significant police presence will remain in the area to address any concerns from residents.
This attack comes months after a separate incident in the same area, where a 69-year-old woman and her dog were attacked by three Staffordshire Bull Terriers. However, police have stated there is currently no indication that the two attacks are linked.
