An 18-year-old teenager riding a Sur-Ron electric bike with a machete concealed down his trousers was arrested in a dramatic police swoop in Chorlton, south Manchester.

Arrest Details

The arrest on Friday was described by police as 'significant'. A quantity of suspected Class A drugs was also seized. Greater Manchester Police said the arrest came during a 'proactive operation targeting drug-related activity' in Chorlton, focusing on known hotspot areas.

Police spotted the man on a Sur-Ron bike 'riding dangerously at speed.' Officers quickly detained him and identified the machete hidden down his trousers. The weapon was safely recovered, and a subsequent search revealed cash and a concealed package. A further search in a police vehicle uncovered 79 snap bags containing suspected Class A drugs.

Police Statement

A force spokesperson said: 'Officers acted quickly to remove a dangerous weapon and drugs from our streets. We remain committed to tackling drug dealing and the harm it causes in our communities.'

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply drugs. He remained in custody for questioning on Friday afternoon.
