Horrific Gang Rape in Bangladesh Leads to Two Arrests
Police in Bangladesh are investigating a horrific incident in which a woman was allegedly dragged from her kitchen, gagged, tied up, and gang-raped. Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack in the Sirab area, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune. The arrests were made during a police operation on June 12.
The victim, who lived in a rented house with her husband and children, was working in her kitchen around 5:30 pm on June 10 when the suspects allegedly gagged her, threatened her children, and took her to a room on the ground floor of a nearby building. There, she was tied up and raped before being allowed to return home. She immediately told her husband and filed a report at Sonargaon Police Station.
Golam Sarwar, officer-in-charge of the police station, stated that officers launched an investigation promptly after the report was made. Authorities are continuing to search for an unspecified number of remaining suspects.
This incident follows a recent rape case involving a seven-year-old girl in a different area of Bangladesh, where two teenage boys were arrested. Additionally, six men were arrested in Cox’s Bazar for allegedly raping a woman and her teenage daughter after cutting through a window grille.
