Irish band The Script surprised fans with an intimate performance at Malone's Irish Bar in Glasgow last night, shortly after opening for Take That at Hampden Park. The band played a 40-minute set at the stadium before heading to the Sauchiehall Lane pub for an unannounced show.
Surprise Pub Performance
Malone's shared videos of the band on social media, captioning one clip: "We've a very special guest performance on right now here at Malones Glasgow. @thescriptofficial. What a way to start off the weekend!" The Script also posted footage on Instagram, writing: "Glasgow you sang your hearts out at the stadium, so we decided to carry on the party at the pub. Loved hearing everyone sing Man In The Arena."
Lead singer Danny O'Donoghue, 45, performed hits including Hall of Fame, For the First Time, and The Man Who Can't Be Moved, with the packed crowd singing along enthusiastically. Fans in the comments expressed their delight, with one calling it the "best night of our lives" and another describing it as "amazing."
History of Surprise Gigs
This is not the first time The Script have played a surprise pub gig in Glasgow. They performed at The Clutha Bar in 2024 after opening for P!nk at Hampden Park. Last night's show marked their return to the stadium as the second support act for Take That's 'The Circus' tour, nearly 17 years after they first opened for the band in 2009.
During their set, which included new track Man In The Arena, Danny jumped into the crowd and even used a fan's phone to Facetime their ex during Nothing. The band will open for Take That again tonight at Hampden, before heading to Cardiff, Manchester, London, and finally Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
