BBC Crime Drama 'This City Is Ours' Season 2 Release Confirmed

The BBC has confirmed that the second season of the acclaimed crime drama This City Is Ours will premiere in October, sending fans into a frenzy. Actor James Nelson-Joyce, who portrays tormented gangster Michael Kavanagh, reshared the network's first teaser trailer for the upcoming series on social media.

Teaser Trailer Unveiled

The brief clip, set to Sammy Davis Jr.'s I've Gotta Be Me, opens with Michael and his partner Diana (Hannah Onslow) enjoying the overseas refuge they escaped to at the end of season one. However, their peaceful retreat is quickly shattered as Michael is pulled back into the criminal underworld. During a tense encounter, a cartel kingpin warns him that his ordeal is only just beginning.

Returning Cast and New Additions

Series one regulars Mike Noble, Julie Graham, Saoirse Monica-Jackson, and Jack McMullen all appear in the footage, which hints at escalating tensions throughout the new season. Liverpudlian Shaun Evans has also joined the ensemble cast, as filming for season two was spotted extensively across Liverpool in recent months, according to the Liverpool Echo.

In an exclusive red carpet interview with the Liverpool Echo, he teased "quite a few shocks" in the new series but kept details under wraps. He expressed his pride in representing Liverpool, stating, "We are from the greatest city in the world. They will try and hold us back and block us, but we always find a way through."

He also credited actor Stephen Graham for his support, saying, "Stephen Graham has opened the door for me and many other actors. He has held the door open on his way up to the very top. He has not forgotten about giving back and helping people."
