Christian Eriksen's doctor issues new health update

Christian Eriksen has shared an update from Denmark national team doctor Martin Boesen, confirming that the midfielder is doing well after collapsing during a friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday. The incident sparked fears given Eriksen's cardiac arrest during Euro 2020, but he regained consciousness quickly and walked to an ambulance.

Doctor's Statement

Dr. Boesen stated: "I spoke with Christian this morning, and he is doing well. He is with his family and in good spirits. The expectation is that he will be discharged soon and return home." He added that the team is taking good care of the players and staff.

Match Abandoned

The match between Denmark and Ukraine was level when Eriksen collapsed. The decision was unanimous not to play the remaining minutes, as confirmed by Denmark head coach Brian Riemer. Riemer said: "Christian Eriksen waved to his teammates as he left the pitch. From that moment on, neither I nor the players could have carried on."

Support from the Football World

Former clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United sent messages of support, along with many others across the football community. Eriksen, 34, had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) fitted after his cardiac arrest in 2021, which ended his time at Inter Milan. He later played for Brentford, Manchester United, and most recently Wolfsburg, who were relegated from the Bundesliga. Denmark also failed to qualify for the World Cup after a play-off loss to Scotland.
