Emmerdale star William Ash has hinted that his character Caleb Miligan will descend into darkness after falling victim to a scam in upcoming episodes. The actor, who joined the ITV soap in 2022 as Caleb, has been central to major storylines, including covering up the murder of Anthony Fox and surviving Joe Tate's kidney heist.
Caleb's Humiliation and Revenge
In forthcoming episodes, Caleb is duped by a caller pretending to be his daughter Steph, losing £5,000. Humiliated by his gullibility, he decides to involve the police and vows revenge. When Ruby reveals the scammer knew private details about Laurel and Ross, Caleb's determination intensifies.
Later, Caleb pitches a counterfeit goods scheme to Billy, suggesting the depot as a base. He entices Billy with a profit cut, pressuring him into a pick-up for 8% of the proceeds. Caleb warns Billy to keep it secret from Jai, clearly relishing his return to crime.
Actor's Insights
Speaking to the Mirror, William Ash explained: "He feels he might be losing his edge. That all feeds Caleb's ego of wanting to be the one who does people over, and he's the one that's been done over." Ash teased that the storyline could lead Caleb down a more dangerous path, adding: "It gets a bit more complex and complicated, that compulsion to push the boundaries. He wants to get his edge back."
He continued: "He realises they can make money from it, probably dodging tax too. Another avenue opens for counterfeiting in another way. He starts going down that darker route, but he loves it."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
