Epsom Derby: Love Island Star and Soap Icon Steal Show

The Epsom Derby took centre stage over the weekend, with the £2 million race won by Christmas Day, but it was the famous faces in stunning outfits that truly stole the spotlight. Hosted by The Jockey Club at Epsom Downs Racecourse, the event saw celebrities and social media stars enjoying hospitality while the horses battled challenging weather conditions.

Race Highlights

Christmas Day, ridden by Ronan Whelan and backed at 7/1, emerged victorious from a 14-horse field. King Charles and Queen Camilla watched as the horse led the pack. Maltese Cross (12/1) finished second, unable to close the gap, while James J Braddock (9/1) took third. Bay Of Brilliance and Alderman completed the top five. Rebel Rocker and Pierre Bonnard followed in sixth and seventh, while favourite Benvenuto Cellini faced a stewards' inquiry after an incident at the start. Jockey Ryan Moore finished eighth but was declared a non-runner, allowing Ancient Egypt to move up.

Trainer Aiden O'Brien celebrated the victory, and Whelan told ITV Racing: "They just told me to keep it simple, when he is out in front he never gets it wrong. The horse has done it so easy, he loves the ground and it just felt so effortless for him."

Celebrity Style

Among the attendees, Love Island star Ekin-su Culculoglu, TikTok star Millie Stennett, and soap icon Claire Sweeney turned heads. Jodie Kidd sported a pinstripe white suit with a turtleneck, while singer Eleanor Fletcher wore a floral dress. Content creator Gabriella McCoy and an unnamed guest were also spotted, alongside singer Natalie Rushdie and finance guru Danielle Copsey. Former England international Eni Aluko dazzled in a flowing blue dress and a small hat, mingling with Lady Delphi Primrose, Ikram Abdi Omar, and Ekin-Su.

The Epsom Derby once again proved to be a showcase for both equine excellence and high fashion, with celebrities bringing glamour to the racecourse despite the unpredictable weather.
