A Place in the Sun host 'disappointed' after guests walk out on property
A Place in the Sun host disappointed as guests reject property

A Place in the Sun presenter Leah Charles-King expressed her disappointment after participants Nikki and Helen swiftly rejected a property during their house hunt in Costa de la Luz, Andalucia. The episode, a repeat broadcast on Monday, June 22, featured the best friends from Warwickshire searching for a holiday home with a budget of £150,000.

Guests reject first property immediately

Nikki and Helen, who had never visited the region before, were hoping to find a property they could eventually relocate to permanently. Nikki had already sold her UK home. They wanted a location to immerse themselves in Andalusian culture year-round, with opportunities for horse riding. Their wish list included three bedrooms, potentially two bathrooms, "something with soul," and outdoor space for entertaining.

However, moments into viewing the first property, they decided to leave without exploring further. "This is not really the location we were looking for," they told Leah outside the house. Helen likened it to a "holiday complex." Despite briefly entering the four-bedroom home, which featured a traditional aesthetic and a courtyard garden, the pair remained unimpressed. "It's not what we're looking for, it hasn't got the feel at all," they said.

Leah's reaction and further viewings

Leah, hoping to change their minds, said, "Let's see if we can change your mind on the inside, but if nothing else, at least it's a great exercise for me to see what you really don't like." When asked if they wanted to see the rest, Nikki and Helen firmly declined. Leah later told the camera, "I've had worst starts to house hunts... no scratch that, I actually don't think I have. But to be fair, I'm a bit disappointed as I thought that this house, which is on the market for just under £166,000, offered Nikki and Helen loads of charm and space in a great location. But they weren't keen on it, pretty much on the get go, so we move onwards and upwards."

Despite Leah's other options, Nikki and Helen did not secure a holiday home on the show, though they made one offer. They offered £168,000 for a property they hoped to modernise, but the owners held out for £176,784. "We couldn't, it's way over our budget," they admitted. They vowed to continue their search within budget.

Leah's parting words

Leah concluded, "We were so close to finding that dream home for besties Helen and Nikki. But sadly on this occasion, it just wasn't to be. The good news though is that they found a part of Spain they've fallen in love with and I wish them all the very best on their continued search."

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 3pm on Channel 4.
