Amanda Holden left her co-star Jamie Theakston stunned with a candid admission as she discussed the secrets to a happy and successful marriage. The 55-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge frequently opens up about her relationship on Heart Radio, but her latest revelation raised eyebrows.
The 10 kisses a day revelation
During a live chat, Amanda asked Jamie: "What do you believe the secret to a happy marriage is?" As he struggled to answer, she read from a study on marital bliss. One key finding suggested sharing at least 10 kisses weekly is crucial. Amanda, who married Chris Hughes in 2008, commented: "Which I think is quite low in seven days, even by my standards. My husband would say you do that in a day, 10 kisses, probably."
Jamie, taken aback, asked: "You kiss your husband 10 times a day?" Amanda confirmed: "I would say so. Even if I gave him a Glaswegian one. Everyone in Scotland would know what that is. But yeah, we have a good old snog." Jamie remained sceptical, but Amanda insisted: "I think that's the easiest thing to get out the way in a marriage."
Other secrets to a happy marriage
The survey also revealed that saying 'I love you' at least nine times a week, having 10 profound conversations monthly, and scheduling three dates a month are key. Amanda admitted she finds dates "utterly impossible" with her busy schedule and two daughters. "Me and Chris, if we're lucky, we might go out for dinner once a month on our own," she said. On meaningful conversations, she joked: "We definitely don't have those. Ours are like, 'What do you want for your tea?' That's as deep as it gets."
Listener reactions
Later, Amanda and Jamie shared listener reactions. One listener claimed her 10-year-old son was so "disgusted" while eating breakfast that he left the room, calling out "disgusting" as he went. Another told Amanda she had "too much time on her hands," which she denied.
