Bad Bunny is pivoting to acting following his headline-making Super Bowl LX performance earlier this month. The 31-year-old Puerto Rican artist, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, will star in the historical drama Porto Rico, a full-length film set in his home country.
The film marks the directorial debut of rapper Residente, born René Pérez Joglar. According to Deadline, Bad Bunny will appear alongside Javier Bardem, Edward Norton and Viggo Mortensen. The project is executive produced by five-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
This is not Ocasio's first acting role; he made his debut in 2021 with F9 and Narcos: Mexico. He later appeared in Bullet Train (2022), Cassandro (2023) and Darren Aronofsky's Caught Stealing (2025). He also hosted the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live in October.
Announcing the film, Joglar said: 'I have dreamed of making a film about my country since I was a child. Puerto Rico’s true history has always been surrounded by controversy. This film is a reaffirmation of who we are – told with the intensity and honesty that our history deserves.' Norton added: 'This film sits in a tradition of films we deeply love, from The Godfather to Gangs of New York... Everybody knows what a poet of language and rhythm René is. Now they’re going to see what a visual visionary he is as well.'
Separately, Logan Paul has expressed interest in facing Bad Bunny in a WWE match, calling it 'the biggest wrestling match of all time.' Bad Bunny previously competed in WWE against Damian Priest in 2021.
