Boyzone have said their late bandmate Stephen Gately will be 'on stage' with them as they prepare for their final reunion concerts. The Irish group - Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch - are set to perform two shows at London's Emirates Stadium in June, which they have indicated will be their last.
Appearing on ITV's This Morning, the band discussed how they will honour Stephen, who died in October 2009 at the age of 33. His death, which occurred while he was in Majorca, was later ruled to be from natural causes due to pulmonary edema. Shane Lynch said: 'We always celebrate Stephen within our shows and have done for the X amount of years that he's not been with us.'
Ronan Keating added: 'It's funny when we're together, it feels like he's just getting ready in the dressing room or something next door. He's here. He's alive. And he'll be alive on stage with us next week at the Emirates.' The comments come after some Irish fans expressed disappointment that the band would not finish their tour in Ireland. Keith Duffy explained: 'It wasn't purposely done like that at all. We'd love to finish in Ireland... but it just wasn't offered to us.'
Sky has also announced a new documentary, One for the Road, which will follow the band as they prepare for their final reunion. This follows the success of the Sky Original Boyzone: No Matter What, a three-part documentary about the group.
