Cammy Devlin: No Hearts Players Hurt in Celtic Pitch Invasion

Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin has opened up about the chaotic pitch invasion that followed Celtic's Premiership title triumph on the final day of the season, describing the scenes as 'horrible'. However, the Australian insists that no Hearts players were injured during the incident, despite allegations from Jambos investor Tony Bloom.

Title Decider at Celtic Park

The match at Celtic Park saw Hearts needing just a point to clinch their first top-flight title in 66 years. Lawrence Shankland gave the visitors an early lead, but Celtic fought back with an Arne Engels penalty and a Daizen Maeda strike three minutes from time. Callum Osmand sealed the dramatic turnaround with a stoppage-time goal, sparking a pitch invasion as fans celebrated the title win.

Hearts players were forced to flee the pitch and board their team bus still in their kits. The club later condemned the scenes as 'shameful', citing a 'menacing and threatening atmosphere'. Celtic issued an apology 24 hours later, and Police Scotland are investigating the events.

Devlin Speaks Out

Now with the Australian national team in California ahead of the World Cup, Devlin reflected on the bitter end to the season. 'It was horrible, to be honest. I didn't envision the last game of the season going the way it did, in terms of the result and the scenes you all would have seen. That's not what football is about,' he said.

'They won the game, and they were the champions. But just the way it all happened, with some of the decisions and stuff, it puts a bit of a sour taste on the ending to what was such a good season for such a special club. None of the players got hurt, but it wasn't nice, and it never is. At the end of the day, we didn't quite get it over the line, which is something that will take a while to process.'
