Cheryl Fergison, best known for playing Heather Trott on EastEnders, has revealed she is 'broke' and is hoping to land a new television job. The 60-year-old actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a post namechecking several ITV shows in an apparent bid to attract work.
In her post, Fergison wrote about dreaming of being 'top of my game' and waiting for a new 'university challenge'. She referenced shows including This Morning, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and Strictly Come Dancing in a playful manner, expressing her desire to return to television.
Fergison played Heather Trott across 386 episodes of EastEnders before her character was killed off in 2012. Since then, she has struggled to find meaningful acting work. In her autobiography, Behind The Scenes, she detailed how she was left penniless after her accountant failed to pay HMRC for five years, pocketing the money instead.
She told OK! magazine that while she and her second husband, Al-Jermoni, are now settled in Blackpool, financial strain remains. Earlier this year, she admitted to The Sun that she is 'not comfortable' financially and is 'working my way back up', after being forced to sell tickets for a performance at a Chinese takeaway opening.
Fergison said: 'My finances will take a long time to recover. Until I have steady work, I'm not rich or comfortable - I'm just surviving.' She added that she will continue to perform, regardless of the venue, and will not give up on her career.
