Christina Applegate has spoken publicly about the death of her former partner Lee Grivas, who died from a drug overdose in 2008. The 53-year-old actress, who now hosts the podcast MeSsy with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, discussed the loss during a recent episode.
Applegate reflected on her efforts to help Grivas, saying: 'I tried everything, right? And he still wanted to escape. When he passed away, it was just like, "F*** man."' Grivas was found dead in his Hollywood apartment in July 2008 at age 26.
The actress, who is battling multiple sclerosis, had previously issued a statement calling Grivas 'an incredible human being' and saying he 'touched so many.' The pair met in 2006 while Applegate was starring in Broadway's Sweet Charity.
Applegate has since married Dutch musician Martyn LeNoble, with whom she has a 14-year-old daughter, Sadie. She also recently discussed grief following her father's death earlier this year, saying there are 'no set rules' to grieving.
