Coronation Street enthusiasts have taken to social media in droves, demanding clarity on what Sarah Platt and Gary Windass are concealing, with many believing they have already deciphered the puzzle. The former couple has been under scrutiny since the murder of Theo Silverton, whose reign of terror over husband Todd Grimshaw came to light after the undertaker's suffering at his partner's hands was revealed.
Theo was ultimately confirmed as the latest victim to meet a grim fate on the cobbles, a storyline hinted at in flashforward scenes from a February episode of the ITV soap. At that time, viewers learned that either Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh, or Maggie Driscoll would be killed, discovered by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mother Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor.
The behavior of the five potential victims kept fans guessing for months until, a week after the April 23 wedding, Betsy stumbled upon Theo's lifeless body. A classic whodunnit is now in full swing, with DS Lisa Connor-Swain and DC Kit Green zeroing in on suspects. Alongside Gary, Corrie has named Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, and Danielle Silverton as the six potential perpetrators.
While the investigation continues, viewers appear more captivated by Sarah and Gary's apparent cover-up. Last week, Sarah spoke with Kit, who questioned whether Maria Windass would lie to provide Gary an alibi. Meanwhile, at the Rovers, Maria challenged Gary's closeness to Sarah due to their shared history, prompting a defensive reaction.
During Sunday's episode, Kit interrogated Gary about Todd's missing phone, discovered in a pawn shop with Brody Michaelis' fingerprints. Gary claimed he found it in a skip outside the builder's yard. Overhearing his suspicions, Sarah quickly arranged a meeting with Gary. Although neither confessed to knowing anything, they were startled by Maria's unexpected return home. Sarah hid while Gary made excuses to leave, but both ended up at the Rovers, where Gary panicked as Todd confronted Kit about the investigation after visiting Summer, who has been charged with Theo's murder, in the hospital.
Gary rushed outside for air, followed by Maria, but he managed to shake her off before Sarah appeared in the alley. While the secret remains unclear, Gary admitted to Sarah that he "doesn’t know how much more he can take" and that he "can’t do this anymore." With no definitive answers, Corrie fans have flooded social media with theories. @agf1052 speculated: "Okay so I’m not sure if it’s an affair, but maybe Gary saw or did something, he freaked out, Sarah saw him and helped after the wedding and then went home but got whacked by Jodie? #Corrie."
@riawebb commented: "I don’t think Gary and Sarah are having an affair but I do think one of them killed Theo and they’re doing a terrible job of hiding their guilt #corrie." @RyanSoapKing25 shared: "I think Gary is protecting Sarah after he witnessed her murder Theo - I just get a feeling! Why would Gary be so concerned about Summer if they were having an affair? #Corrie."
@ifeelflames posted: "I’m confused why everyone thinks Gary and Sarah are having an affair. To me it’s very much just two friends sharing a big secret about what happened the night Theo died, who are struggling with the guilt of hiding it from their loved ones & the police #Corrie." @1stLadyHooligan echoed: "Sarah & Gary are acting shady but I don't think they're having an affair which just leaves 1 or both of them killed Theo imo #corrie." @Izzy1728047 added: "Really curious what’s happening with Gary & Sarah, they must’ve done something to Theo or protecting the person that did #Corrie."
