Veteran actor David Daker has died at the age of 90, his family confirmed. Best known for playing Harry Crawford in the ITV comedy-drama Boon, Daker also appeared in Coronation Street, Doctor Who, Porridge, Only Fools and Horses, Doctors, and Holby City. He died on April 30, but his family waited before announcing the news; no cause of death was given.

Coronation Street and Doctor Who Roles

On Coronation Street, Daker played two characters: Basil Griffin (1968–1969), whose wife left him for Len Fairclough, and Rovers Return manager Gordon Lewis (1981–1985). In Doctor Who, he appeared in two classic serials: Irongron in The Time Warrior (1973–1974) and Captain Rigg in Nightmare of Eden (1979). His television career began in the BBC drama Z Cars, where he played PC Owen Culshaw in over 80 episodes.

Personal Life and Tribute

Daker married Stella Newton in 1957; they later split. They had a son, Tim, and a daughter, Pippa, who died from multiple sclerosis. He is survived by Tim, his second wife Hilary, their daughter Rebecca, and his sister Hazel.
