Emma Watson has revealed she struggled with feelings of unworthiness after being cast as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, leading her to seek therapy. The actress, who was nine when she landed the role, told British Vogue she felt guilty that she did not enjoy the fame as much as others might have.
Speaking to activist Paris Lees, Watson said: 'I've sat in therapy and felt really guilty about it. I'm like why me, somebody else would have enjoyed and wanted this aspect of it more than I did.' She added that she felt she should have been more excited but was 'really struggling'.
Watson credited her family for keeping her grounded, saying she had to ask her parents: 'Am I still your daughter?' because her fame felt so overwhelming. She also discussed turning 30, describing anxiety around societal pressure to have a home, husband, and baby by that age.
The full interview appears in the December issue of British Vogue, available from 8 November.
