Emmerdale fans were left stunned this weekend as April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan, 16, picked out her prom dress. The actress, who has played the role since 2014, shared a photo on Instagram posing in a dress shop with a sign reading 'I Said Yes'.
Fans reacted with surprise at her age, with one commenting: 'Omg can't believe she's that age already! Bet mum and dad feel the same!' Another wrote: 'Well I feel old. She's still 7, no?'
Amelia, who comes from a soap-star family with twin siblings Isabella and William appearing in Coronation Street, has won multiple awards for her performances, including Best Young Actor at the Insider Soap Awards for three consecutive years.
The actress recently revealed she landed her dream role thanks to a banana costume. She told OK! magazine: 'The director asked me if I could dress up as any character in the world, who would it be? I think everyone else said a princess, but I said a banana.'
Amelia has been at the centre of hard-hitting storylines, including bullying and the recent death of Heath Hope, where her character refused to get into a car that later crashed.
