Liverpool's future could be very bright indeed if the club continues to recruit young talent. New boss Andoni Iraola's capture of Victor Munoz from Osasuna signals a desire to rejuvenate the squad. The 22-year-old Spanish winger is Iraola's first signing, aiming to lower the average age of the current squad, which stands at 26.1.
Youthful Dynasty in the Making
The club's transfer activity has linked them with several promising youngsters. Speculation surrounds 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande and 18-year-old Moroccan talent Ayyoub Bouadda, indicating Liverpool's ambition to build a youthful dynasty.
What could the ideal first XI look like in the years ahead? There is £120 million worth of talent already at the club in Munoz, Giovanni Leoni, and Jeremy Jacquet, who will feature prominently.
Goalkeeper: Caoimhin Kelleher Returns
Alisson, 33, is widely expected to leave when his contract expires next season. Liverpool face a major decision in goal. While Giorgi Mamardashvili has filled in this season, the Reds should consider bringing Caoimhin Kelleher back. Kelleher, 27, departed for Brentford last summer, but Liverpool need a goalkeeper with experience on big stages and familiarity with Anfield. The Republic of Ireland international has grown in stature since his move, making a return seem inevitable.
Defensive Reinforcements
Leoni, 19, arrived from Parma last summer for £26 million but suffered a serious ACL injury on his debut. He will return determined to claim his spot in the back four. The signing of French centre-half Jeremy Jacquet, 20, from Rennes in January for £60 million demonstrates shrewd forward planning as the club prepares to replace skipper Virgil van Dijk, who turns 35 this summer. The pair also fill the void left by Ibrahima Konate, who departed this month.
At right-back, Conor Bradley, 22, deserves an opportunity to stake his claim upon returning from a lengthy absence. Milos Kerkez, also 22, will slot in at left-back and benefit from reuniting with Iraola after their time together at Bournemouth.
Midfield Puzzle Solved
The midfield has posed a challenge for Liverpool this season. In the centre, Liverpool should pursue 22-year-old Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. He will function as a shield, protecting the back four and providing the first genuine No. 6 since Fabinho. Florian Wirtz, still only 23, will enjoy a roaming brief but can tuck in when necessary. His ability is too exceptional to overlook.
Attacking Flair
The arrival of Munoz gives Iraola both pace and flexibility on the left wing. On the right is Rio Ngumoha, with the 17-year-old being one of the most thrilling young talents in the Premier League. While Diomande could serve as an option for either flank, the £100 million-plus asking price from RB Leipzig suggests the Reds may let Munoz and Ngumoha flourish instead.
Up front needs little explanation. The lethal partnership of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak is yet to truly spark due to injuries, but with Ekitike just 23 and Isak only 26, the pair could lead Liverpool's attack for another five seasons at their peak.
Liverpool's dream future XI: Caoimhin Kelleher; Milos Kerkez, Geovanni Leoni, Jeremy Jacquet, Conor Bradley; Adam Wharton, Florian Wirtz, Victor Munoz, Rio Nguomha, Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak.
