Kelly Osbourne's Son Diagnosed with Conjunctivitis During Family Turmoil
Reality television personality Kelly Osbourne has disclosed that her young son is currently unwell, coinciding with her recent separation from his father, Sid Wilson. The 41-year-old star posted a photograph to her Instagram Stories on Monday, revealing that her three-year-old son Sidney has developed conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as pink eye.
'Little man has conjunctivitis so we are entertaining him. Thank the lord he is feeling better!' Osbourne wrote in the caption. The image featured Osbourne with her son alongside a 37-year-old non-binary hairdresser named Kiinicki, who has reportedly provided emotional support following the tragic death of Osbourne's rock legend father Ozzy in July.
Creative Distractions During Illness
The trio were photographed wearing diapers on their heads as they engaged in playful activities to keep young Sidney entertained. According to the Mayo Clinic, conjunctivitis represents 'an inflammation of the transparent membrane that lines the eyelid and eyeball' and is 'most often caused by a viral infection.'
This health update arrives shortly after the Daily Mail reported that Osbourne has ended her engagement to Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, 49, just seven months after he proposed during her late father's final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham last July. Insiders close to the celebrity have described this period as particularly challenging for Osbourne.
Navigating Grief and Separation
A confidential source explained: 'Kelly and Sid have decided to call off their engagement. Kelly has been struggling following the loss of her father. The grieving process has been incredibly difficult, and she's been doing everything she can to cope.'
The insider continued: 'In truth, she and Sid have been facing challenges in their relationship for some time, and things were not as they appeared. They tried to make it work, particularly for the sake of their child, but ultimately decided that separating is the best path forward.'
Osbourne and Wilson first connected when Slipknot toured with Ozzfest, the music festival established by her parents. Their relationship blossomed over more than two decades of friendship before they welcomed their son in 2022. The family had been residing together on a farm in Iowa prior to their separation.
Public Hints and Private Struggles
Earlier this month, Osbourne appeared to reference the relationship breakdown in an Instagram post, writing: 'There is a special kind of cruelty in hurting someone who is already going through something deeply painful. Being kicked while I'm down, having my pain questioned, my struggles turned into gossip, and being abandoned when I need love and support the most - none of this reflects strength.'
She added: 'I am going through one of the hardest periods of my life. I shouldn't have to defend myself, but I also won't allow myself to be dehumanized like this.'
Osbourne has recently been spending considerable time with Kiinicki, who identifies as a 'queer barber' and uses they/them pronouns. The two friends obtained matching crescent moon and tooth tattoos on their hands in February, symbolizing their close bond during this difficult period.
Recent Public Appearances
Despite her personal challenges, Osbourne maintained a composed exterior when she attended pop star Lily Allen's West End Girl show at the London Palladium on Saturday, followed by a celebratory gathering at the Broadwick Soho Hotel. She was accompanied by Kiinicki throughout the evening, with insiders noting this provided a welcome opportunity for Osbourne to relax after a demanding start to the year.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 25 last year at age 76 after confronting significant health issues for several years. The Black Sabbath frontman officially died from a heart attack, though he also battled coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease. His passing occurred just weeks after his final concert performance in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, where he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in twenty years.
Since her father's death, Osbourne has faced harsh online criticism alongside genuine concern from fans regarding her noticeably slender appearance and overall wellbeing. Following the BRIT Awards in March, where Ozzy received a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, Osbourne addressed internet trolls who had commented negatively on her physical condition.
