Lily Collins has paid an emotional tribute to her father, music icon Phil Collins, on his 74th birthday, as he continues to battle health issues that forced him into retirement. The 35-year-old actress shared a series of photos on Instagram, including one taken inside the Duke Of York Theatre in London's West End, where she recently performed in the play Barcelona.
In the image, Lily wore a sparkly silver and gold jumpsuit while Phil, dressed in a black zip-up fleece and trousers, sat beside her. She also posted a throwback photo from 1999, when Phil received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, showing a young Lily hugging her father proudly.
Lily captioned the post: 'From a west coast star to the West End stage and everywhere in between — I'm so grateful to be by your side... Happy birthday Dad. I couldn't love you more or be more thankful to celebrate you today and every day.' She also shared a video from Rome's Hotel Eden, where both their autographs are displayed side by side, saying: 'Like father, like daughter. So proud to share space with you.'
Phil Collins, 74, retired from performing in 2022 due to long-standing neck and back issues. In a recent documentary, 'Phil Collins: Drummer First', he admitted the retirement was 'still sinking in' and was seen making an emotional return to his drum kit with the help of his son Nic. He said: 'I've spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock.'
The musician has previously spoken about losing feeling in his fingers after surgery in 2009, and having to tape drumsticks to his hands to perform. Despite his health challenges, Lily's tribute highlights the close bond between father and daughter as they continue to share special moments together.
