Love Island star Faye Winter has spoken out about the dangers of unregulated cosmetic procedures after a botched Botox injection left her with drooping eyebrows and a paralysed forehead. The 28-year-old, who rose to fame on the ITV2 show in 2021, admitted she 'destroyed' her face by going to an untrained practitioner.
Winter told Closer magazine that the incident happened weeks before she entered the Love Island villa. She had visited someone she mistakenly believed was medically qualified while her regular nurse was on holiday. 'He put the Botox in and within days my eyebrows had dropped into a frown position, and I had droopy eyelids. It completely paralysed my forehead, ruined my face and felt terrifying,' she said.
The reality star had to use tape to lift her face into position for her Love Island audition tape. She also revealed that excessive lip filler made her lips look like 'a baboon's a**e', and she later had the filler dissolved, leaving her lips 'deflated'. Winter has since had a small amount of filler put back in but has no plans for more.
Winter is now calling for tighter regulation of the Botox industry, noting that administrators currently do not need legal qualifications. She warned that some clinics ignore basic hygiene, with nurses failing to wear gloves, and that social media promotions often hide botched results. 'People don't realise how unregulated the industry is,' she said.
