Good Morning Britain weather presenter Lucy Verasamy swapped her denim mini dress for trousers on Thursday's show, following a controversial comment from stand-in host Richard Madeley. The 61-year-old presenter, filling in for Piers Morgan, had joked about her dress shrinking in the rain, just before introducing a segment on the #MeToo movement.
Viewers criticised Madeley for what they called a 'pervy' remark, prompting Verasamy to opt for a more conservative look. She wore black trousers with a silk cream blouse and nude court shoes, a change noted by co-host Susanna Reid, who said: 'You have dressed appropriately for the weather?'
Verasamy replied: 'Yes I've got trousers on, comfortable trousers, classic.' The discussion came after Madeley's earlier comments about her denim dress, which he compared to Dolly Parton's style and suggested she test the fabric in the rain.
Reid defended Madeley, saying he was 'just interested to see what happened to the fabric. It's an experiment, in the public interest.' Verasamy added: 'That's because everyone wants to see the weather girl in the pouring rain, battling with a brolly.'
