Jeff Gobbels and Rhi Disljenkovic, who were hailed as the golden couple of this season's Married At First Sight, have announced their split after just one year together. The pair, who chose to stay together during their emotional Final Vows in March, have now gone their separate ways.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the Melbourne-based pair confirmed the breakup, citing growing apart as the primary reason. 'We gave it our best shot, but ultimately we realised we wanted different things,' Rhi, 34, said. Jeff, 40, added, 'It's sad, but we remain friends and wish each other the best.'
The couple had previously shut down engagement rumours, insisting they were taking things at their own pace. However, sources close to the pair reveal that the pressures of post-show life proved too much. 'They were great on the show, but real life is different,' a friend said.
Fans had been rooting for Jeff and Rhi, who had a history before the show and were praised for their emotional maturity. Their split comes as a shock to many, especially after they appeared so strong during the season.
