Two North East midwives with a combined 40 years of NHS experience have launched a new private clinic to support soon-to-be growing families. Jennifer Moore and Victoria Hamoodi, both midwives for over two decades, have opened Sereniti Scan in Benton, offering a 'calm, welcoming and personal' space for a range of scans and tests for pregnant women.
More Time for Families
The clinic aims to provide families with more time than typically available in NHS services. Victoria Hamoodi, a mother-of-three from Ponteland, said: 'We both still absolutely love our NHS roles and are very proud of the work we do. But the reality is there are pressures on the system that are outside of our control. Appointments are often much more rushed now, and families don't always get the time and reassurance they would like.'
She added: 'We wanted to create somewhere calm, welcoming and personal, where families can enjoy the experience and ask questions without feeling rushed.'
Involving the Whole Family
Another advantage of private scanning is the ability to include extended family members. Hamoodi explained: 'One of the lovely things about private scanning is that families can share the experience together. Within the NHS there are often restrictions on numbers attending appointments, but here grandparents, children and partners can all be involved in that special moment.'
Services Offered
Sereniti Scan offers private pregnancy scans including 4D imaging, early pregnancy reassurance scans, gender scans, and screening services. The 4D ultrasound machine provides detailed images and memorable keepsakes for families. The clinic also performs screening and blood tests for genetic conditions through non-invasive prenatal testing, combining blood tests and ultrasound.
The clinic is located at the No 33 Business Hub in Benton, on the North of Tyne Industrial Estate.
