Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has released a TikTok video addressing backlash over his comments on the Israel-Hamas conflict. The actor, who is Jewish American, said his 'thoughts and beliefs have been so far misconstrued' from his actual views.
Schnapp had previously posted a now-deleted video after the October 7 attacks expressing fear as a Jewish American. A later video showed him smiling at friends holding stickers with slogans like 'Zionism is Sexy,' prompting calls for a boycott of Stranger Things season five.
In his latest video, Schnapp called for the return of hostages still held in Gaza and 'an end to the loss of innocent life in Palestine.' He expressed hope for peaceful coexistence and said he had learned from conversations with Palestinian friends.
'I only want peace and safety and security for all innocent people affected by this conflict,' Schnapp said. He urged more 'understanding and compassion' online, adding: 'We are all human and we are all the same.'
The video drew mixed reactions, with some supporting his stance and others criticising his past actions. Some commenters argued actors should avoid political statements, while others defended his right to speak out.
