Piers Morgan and Ashley James Clash in Heated This Morning Debate Over 'Woke' Culture

Piers Morgan and Ashley James reignited their feud during a fiery exchange on Wednesday's edition of This Morning. The 60-year-old broadcaster joined the ITV programme to debate current affairs with the former Made In Chelsea star, as well as hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, but the discussion quickly descended into a row.

Ashley attempted to define 'woke' as being aware of social injustice, accusing Piers of weaponising the term. Piers hit back, recalling their previous clash on the show and accusing Ashley of playing the 'ridiculous, violin-laden victim' on Instagram afterwards. Ashley retorted that she would have to do it again, but Piers insisted she was a strong woman.

The debate then turned to workplace banter. Ashley argued that being woke does not make one weak and that jokes can create a culture where serious issues are overlooked. Piers countered that he was trying to preserve what the country was built on, including the ability to have jokes and romance in the workplace, noting that 40% of marriages used to start at work.

Ashley maintained that being professional and woke is for everyone, but the pair continued to talk over each other. Piers accused the 'woke brigade' of being uncomfortable with everything, using the analogy of being triggered by an orange instead of an apple. He called for everyone to 'chill and have a bit of fun'. Ben Shephard eventually intervened, urging viewers to share their opinions as an advert break approached.
