Prince William and Prince Harry have not been on speaking terms for several years, and the rift shows no signs of healing. According to reports, the once-close brothers experienced growing tension after Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018. Disagreements around the wedding, Harry's decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, and the 2022 Netflix docuseries all contributed to the fracture. However, the final blow came with Harry's 2023 memoir, Spare.
Criticism of Catherine Was the Last Straw
Dan Wakeford, founder of Celebrity Intelligence, told The Royals Uncensored podcast that William could not forgive Harry for portraying Catherine as cold in the book. Wakeford explained: "It was talking about Kate and portraying her as cold in Spare is something that William could not get over. It made him realise 'I am done'. He could deal with the criticisms of himself but criticising Kate is really the straw that broke the camel's back."
No Contact Despite Visits
Harry, 41, has visited the UK multiple times from his home in Montecito and has met with their father, King Charles, but William, 43, has never been present. While Harry has publicly expressed a desire for reconciliation, William has remained silent on the matter.
