Real Madrid Election Result: Haaland Transfer Off, Rodri Future Uncertain
Real Madrid Election: Haaland Off, Rodri Uncertain

Manchester City have received a significant update regarding the future of Erling Haaland following the Real Madrid presidential election, but concerns over Rodri's contract situation remain.

Real Madrid Election Result

Florentino Perez has won the Real Madrid presidential election with 64.8% of the vote, defeating challenger Enrique Riquelme who had promised to sign Erling Haaland. Riquelme's campaign claims that Haaland has a release clause and wants to join Real Madrid were strongly denied by Manchester City, the player's father Alf-Inge, and his agent Rafaela Pimenta.

Manchester City issued a statement calling the claims "untrue" and warning of potential legal action over the use of the player's image. Haaland's camp described the speculation as "all very entertaining but NOT true."

Rodri's Uncertain Future

Riquelme also claimed to have spoken with Rodri's agent about a move, stating he would do everything possible to bring the midfielder to Madrid if elected. However, with Perez remaining in power, a move for Rodri appears less likely in the immediate term. Perez has reportedly promised a club-record offer of at least £130 million, but for Michael Olise rather than Haaland or Rodri.

Rodri, who will enter the final year of his Manchester City contract after the World Cup, has not yet agreed to a new deal despite multiple offers from the club. The midfielder has stated he will focus on the World Cup before addressing his future, and has not ruled out a move to Real Madrid despite his Atletico Madrid past, saying, "You can't turn down the best clubs in the world."
