Robert Pattinson has landed his next major film role, set to star as a serial killer in Adam McKay's upcoming black comedy Average Height, Average Build. The 36-year-old English actor joins an all-star ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. and Amy Adams, according to Deadline.
The film, which will be directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind Don't Look Up, follows Pattinson's character as he teams up with a lobbyist, played by Adams, to persuade lawmakers to change laws to make it easier for him to commit murders. Downey Jr. will portray a retired police detective determined to bring the killer to justice.
The satire reportedly targets societal corruption, with Pattinson's character attempting to garner public sympathy, drawing comparisons to a darker version of Jimmy Stewart's filibuster in the 1939 classic Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. The cast also includes Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler, who recently earned acclaim for her role in Till.
McKay is producing the film with Kevin Messick through their company Hyperobject Industries. The project is being shopped to studios and streamers, with no budget yet attached, though Deadline notes the strong cast should attract buyers easily.
Pattinson, known for his work with auteurs like David Cronenberg and the Safdie brothers, recently completed filming Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17 and starred in The Batman.
