Rebecca Rigg, the ex-wife of actor Simon Baker, is reportedly 'shocked and confused' by ongoing rumours that he is romantically involved with his Scarpetta co-star Nicole Kidman. Rigg, 58, was married to Baker from 1998 to 2020 and has been a close childhood friend of Kidman for over 40 years, with both having grown up in the same area of Sydney.
An insider told New Idea magazine that Rigg is unhappy that neither Kidman nor Baker has reached out to her regarding the speculation, which intensified after the pair held hands on the red carpet at their Scarpetta premiere. 'She loves Nicole like a sister... it's extremely shocking for her to get her head round this,' the source said. They added that Rigg is 'totally in the dark' about their current status, and that mutual friends assume the hand-holding was a stunt for the show.
The source also noted that Rigg and Baker pride themselves on a transparent relationship as they co-raise their children, and that Kidman's coyness is 'breaking the girl code'. Kidman is godmother to one of Rigg's daughters, actress Stella Baker, 31.
Kidman's ex-husband Keith Urban is also said to be blindsided by the rumours. An insider told Woman's Day that seeing them hold hands was 'the equivalent of seeing his best mate with his missus'. Urban, 58, is reportedly hoping the romance is just for the cameras, as a genuine relationship would devastate him.
Kidman and Baker, who play a married couple in the Amazon Prime series Scarpetta, attended the show's New York premiere on March 3, where Kidman described their chemistry as something that 'just vibrates'. Baker cheekily added, 'I don't kiss and tell'.
