Selena Gomez has hit back at Hailey Bieber after the model made remarks about not feeling competitive with people she is 'not inspired by'. The comments, made in an interview with WSJ. Magazine, were perceived as a dig at Gomez's Rare Beauty brand, which is often compared to Bieber's Rhode Beauty.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Gomez, 33, wrote: 'She can say whatever she wants. Doesn't affect my life whatsoever. It's just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop.'
Bieber, 28, who is married to singer Justin Bieber, had told WSJ. Magazine that the constant comparisons between the two beauty brands are 'annoying'. She said: 'It's always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn't ask for that. I don't feel competitive with people that I'm not inspired by.'
The feud rumours between the two women have persisted for years, partly due to Justin Bieber's past on-off relationship with Gomez from 2010 to 2018. Both have previously denied any animosity, even posing together for a photo in 2022 to quell speculation.
Gomez's response came after Bieber's interview was published, and fans quickly noted the timing. The exchange follows Gomez's recent marriage to Benny Blanco, which prompted online trolling of Justin Bieber, with some fans suggesting he was hurt by the news.
